Frames of Tennis Rackets
Rajdlík, Lukáš ; Němec, Karel (referee) ; Molliková, Eva (advisor)
This bachelor’s thesis deals with materials used for manufacturing of the frame of tennis rackets. The thesis informs about the frame of tennis rackets development, from the origins of tennis to these days, when there are modern technologies used. There are parts of the frame of a tennis racket and construction requirements defined. There are two samples of tennis rackets investigated and the both samples are compared with each other.
Recent Trends in Research and Development of Non-toxic Small Calibre Bullets
Macháček, Tomáš ; Komenda,, Jan (referee) ; Klakurková, Lenka (advisor)
This thesis focuses on finding equivalent replacement of toxic lead used in bullets with different non-toxic material. Bullets produced from copper, brass, zinc and lead were tested. The work contains information about chemical composition, a macro and mikro documentation and the hardness values of each bullet. Methods of light microscopy, scanning electron microscopy and microhardness measurements were used for this study.
Powder feeding analysis in RF-ICP
Zlatník, Rostislav ; Veverka, Jakub (referee) ; Čížek, Jan (advisor)
The work is focused on the problematics of inductively coupled plasma, which is used for deposition of layers. We focused on two goals in the work. The first one focused on powder feeder, which is working on the vibration principle and is used in an apparatus that is using inductively coupled plasma. The aim is to determine its properties, dependence on different input parameters and working conditions. Is important to verify the suitability of its use for this kind of application. The assumption was to find the ideal configuration of the feeder for the given powder. After an overall assessment of the feeder properties, it was recognized as inappropriate for this application. The second goal is to spray tungsten layers with three different tungsten powders. Layers made with an inductively coupled plasma technology delivers promising results, but this issue needs to be intensively addressed in the future.
GaN deposition on a tungsten substrate
Pikna, Štěpán ; Piastek, Jakub (referee) ; Čalkovský, Vojtěch (advisor)
This bachelor thesis is focused on deposition of GaN nanocrystals on the etched tungsten tips. Motivation was to prepare these GaN structures on the Schottky cathode made by company ThermoFisher Scientific and measure its field emission. In the theoretical part of the thesis GaN and tungsten field emission properties are introduced. The experimental part begins with tungsten tip etching optimalization, where the right values for best tips are temperature 20 °C, depth of the tip 2,5 mm and solution NaOH used. Further the gallium structures were prepared on these tips using molecular beam epitaxy (MBE). The right temperature to prepare GaN nanocrystals was determined as 200 °C. The deposition of gallium was set to 2 hours and following nitridation was 3 hours. Finally, the field emission from GaN prepared on copper foil with graphene was measured and compared with other experiments.
Electron beam welding of ODS materials
Jankůj, Luděk ; Čížek, Jan (referee) ; Jan, Vít (advisor)
Thesis on Electron beam welding of ODS materials is divided into theoretical and experimental part. In the first part the theoretical research work focuses on the accurate description of the candidate materials in a research fusion reactor ITER. Following are detailed constructional ODS materials and tungsten alloy as a material of the first wall. The second part of the theoretical research deals with various possibilities of joining high-melting dissimilar materials such as brazing or electron beam welding as well, which will be established in the experimental section. The experimental part of the thesis deals with a joining ODS steel MA 956 with sintered carbide WC-Co and ODS tungsten. These materials are welded by electron beam. Individual samples are distinguished used filler material, preheating or welding parameters. This thesis contains photographic documentations of microstructure the welding samples, results from scanning electron microscopy, and measurements of microhardness across the weld metal.
RF-ICP deposition of tungsten coatings
Zlatník, Rostislav ; Houdková, Šárka (referee) ; Čížek, Jan (advisor)
The main object of this work is the technology of radio frequency controlled inductively coupled plasma, abbreviated RF-ICP. The specific goal of the work was the application of surface layers of tungsten and analysis of the influence of changes in process conditions on the resulting microstructure and chemical composition of deposited coatings. The monitored conditions were torch power, choice of carrier gas, powder feedrate.
Comparison of finite element simulation of tungsten nanoindentation with Berkovich and conical indenter
Fiala, L. ; Ballo, I. ; Kovář, J. ; Fuis, Vladimír
Finite Element Method (FEM) was used to study the difference between using Berkovich and conical indenters in nanoindentation test of tungsten specimen. The study was aimed to determine the\nmodulus of elasticity of a tested specimen and how it changes with different indenter. The FEM analysis also revealed that the modulus of elasticity was sensitive to the dimensions of both specimen and the indenter for which were made several numerical calculations with different dimensions.
Computational modelling of the nanoindentation with Berkovich indenter
Fiala, Lukáš ; Fuis, Vladimír (referee) ; Kovář, Jaroslav (advisor)
This diploma thesis deals with computational modelling of the nanoindentation of tungsten with Berkovich indenter. In the beginning of thesis, research about nanoindentation test and Oliver-Pharr analysis is performed. The next part of thesis deals with deformation-stress analysis of the nanoindentation test with the linear-elastic model of material of tungsten and with comparison of results obtained with a diamond indenter and with an ideal rigid indenter. In the following model, plastic deformation is already considered. On the computational model with elasto-plastic model of material a sensitivity analysis of the influence of specimen and indenter dimensions and the influence of the penetration on results determined using the Oliver-Pharr analysis is performed. Furthermore, the applicability of the correction factors which were founded in the literature is assessed on this model and their exact value is determined. The last part of the work deals with the analysis of the influence of blunting of the indenter on results of the nanoindentation test and the comparison of different approaches for determining the projection of the contact surface.
Preparation of W-Cu composites by infiltration of w skeletons review
Matějíček, Jiří
Tungsten-copper composites feature high corrosion and erosion resistance, very good thermal and electrical conductivity, low thermal expansion and good mechanical properties. They are used in a variety of demanding applications, such as arc-resistant electrodes, high voltage electrical contacts, heat sinks for integrated circuits, etc. They are also foreseen for use in plasma-facing components of fusion reactors, e.g. as a transition layer between the (refractory) plasma-facing tungsten and the (highly conductive) copper-based cooling structure. In general, high density and good bonding of the tungsten and copper phases is desired. Molten copper infiltration into tungsten preforms is among the prospective fabrication technologies - the structure and properties of the resultant composites are dependent on the specific technological parameters. In this paper, the preparation of W-Cu composites by infiltration of W skeletons is reviewed and attention is paid to the influence of these particular parameters: infiltration temperature, time and atmosphere, tungsten preform porosity, orientation and chemistry (presence or absence of other elements). Optimum parameter combinations for achieving high density and proper bonding of copper and tungsten are identified.
